Ally's Column of Randomness-"Alaska"-6/27/10

Hey everyone! I just came back from Alaska! We went on the Island Princess Cruiseline on June 14, 2010. It was interesting, since I have never been on a cruise before. IT WAS HUGE! 12 decks in all. 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, and 16. Well I'm pretty sure there's deck 1, 2, and 3, but we've never been down there, so I dunno. Well we slept in deck 11, and met our steward, Jorge. He was really nice. We had bunk beds in our room, and Josh and I slept on the top(of course), and mom and dad slept on the bottom(of course). We had first class meals every dinner with appetizers, super salads, main courses, and dessert! Who could ask for more for a girl who likes food? ;) SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOD!

On June 15, it was the rockiest day of the ship! I felt sooooo sea sick it wasn't even funny. At least I didn't barf unlike some people(just kidding). On June 16, we arrived in Ketchikan, AK. It was coolio. Small town, cool place. Yep. On June 17, we went to Juneau, AK. And we saw the governor's house. Pretty big (not really). Anyways, we saw this hilarious show by Kevin Hughes. It was sooo hecka funny. My whole family was cracking up like eggs(not literally but you know). On June 18, Skagway was our next destination. It was small and boring and cool at the same time. Interesting little town. June 19, we were on the boat and watching one glacier in Glacier Bay. Cool huh? Yeah...one glacier. Amazing. Wow. One glacier(you get my point). June 20, uhhh we went to College Fjord. Nothing there. Just mountaings, and islands and melting ice in the ocean. Nothing much. On June 21, we saw a show with Adrian Zmed. If you don't know him, he's famous. He was in Grease(that's all I know about him) with Michelle Pfeiffer. Yep, he sang with others and ya. On June 22, we got off the boat and rode a bus to the Anchorage Museum.

The Anchorage Museum was sooo cool! Lots of gizmos and such! Cool place for us! Well that was in the kid's room. Most of the museum had art, Indian or Native American stuff etc. Then we took a bus to Denali, AK. We went to our hotel, Denali Bluffs Hotel. We ate at a restaurant there on the hotel grounds; it wasn't as good as the cruise. And we had to pay too (and the prices were so expensive...). The next day was cool! It was June 23, and we took a bus tour around Denali National Park. We saw moose, two mama grizzly bears, two cubs(one mama and cub in one place the others in another place FAR away,) a red fox that followed us, dall sheep, a gray wolf peeing on the road, and caribou. It was amazing! On June 24, we saw the sled dogs that drive a sled in the winter. SO CUTE! AND ADORABLE! Then we took the Alaska Train to Anchorage and we finally saw an eagle! Yay! The train took about 8 hours. We got picked up by my Auntie Karen's friend, Uncle Hung. We ate at this SUPER GOOD AND AWESOME SEAFOOD place called Momma O's Seafood. Pretty good. Then we slept in the Comfort Inn. Those liars. It is NOT a "comfort" inn. The bathroom door was hard to close, if you needed to print something from the computer, the printer was broken, while walking to my grandma and aunties' room, it smelled like SMOKE, and bad TV reception. Yep.

On June 24, we went to the airport. And guess what? OUR FLIGHT WAS CANCELED. YOU KNOW HOW LONG AND BORING IT FELT IN THE AIRPORT?!?!?! IT WAS LIKE TOM HANKS IN THE TERMINAL. EXCEPT WE DIDN'T LIVE THERE BUT IT FELT LIKE THAT YOU KNOW? Finally we got on the plane...AT MIDNIGHT! I barely fell asleep! Ay yah. Well we made it home on June 25. I was super tired, got on my bed and slept for 6 hours without being awaken. Well, this was our trip to Alaska! Hope you enjoyed it!(or my little rapping up of Alaska ;) Well bye!(oh and thanks to Fabriola and Jazmin for being awesome waiters! And Jorge too!)
