Ally's Column of Randomness: Julyness of Life

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've posted, and I'm sorry! Lots has happened though.

I had just finished being an aide for a Chinese summer program called Hip Wah! I was an aide for Hip Wah 2, or HWII. My boss was non other than my dad, and my co-aide was my friend.

Now, let me explain something. Each group of kids is a zodiac animal, like the rats, oxen, tigers, etc. There are seven classes, including HWII and HWIII. Each one is for a grade level. For example, this year, the Dragons class is going to sixth grade this year. So in Hip Wah, they will be in HWII. Each class is different. For example, in HWII, you cook, eat, watch movies, help make a magazine, and trace art. And in HWIII, you go visit different places where Asians work, and learn more about jobs. It's really fun!

Besides your regular class, you have calligraphy and brush painting for 1-5 graders, OCA (lion dancing and kung fu) for 1-5, and Instrumental music for 4-7, and vocal music for 1-3. And recess of course!

The experience was a thrill, I've got to admit! All of my kids were sweet, and awesome, though some were a little on the hyper side, but still. They were cool, and if I come back next year, I'll miss having that class.

But OH we made deliciousness! We made mandarin orange salad with caramelized almonds, almond and vanilla jello, cha siu chow fun, designer teem gok, pagoda fruit crisps, foil wrapped chicken, shrimp tofu, fried wonton, bow ties, and shrimp chips. All were delicious :) if you want any of these recipes, email me at ask414@yahoo.com, and post a comment, and I'll give you the recipe of how we made it! Remember, you're in charge of putting how much you want in there, and the recipe is like a guideline! Enjoy, and hopefully I'll post another column later!

Ally's Column of Randomness-4/15/11-"Crazy Roller Coaster Week"

Crazy Roller Coaster Week:

Hey everyone! On April 8, my symphonic band went to Six Flags to perform near the Dolphin Fountain! We played after their grand entrance to opening the park, and our audience left us. But it wasn't our best performance too, so it didn't matter if there were people.

Next, we go to ride the rides! I have never been on any of the Six Flags' rides, so I was game for any ones. Our first one was the Cobra. It was okay, but see, I scream A LOT on roller coasters, no matter how big or small they are. After wards, some of my friends went on the Vertical Velocity. I didn't want to go on it. Then we went on Medusa! It was so scary, freaky, and awesome! Once I got on, I told my friend, "This was a bad choice!" I didn't like the part when we did all the loops! I was screaming and closing my eyes for most of the time too. Then came Kong! It was just like Medusa! Except not as extreme! It was totally crazy!

Finally, we had food! I got purple cotton candy (have you ever seen purple cotton candy?) and had some waffle fries; one had chili and cheese, and the other one had bacon and ranch dressing and cheese. Afterwards, I watched my friends go back on Medusa, and with some other people I went on the Cobra over and over again. It was a pretty good day!

The rides were so exciting and fun! Like yesterday which was my thirteenth birthday! I can't believe that I'm a teenager! But it doesn't feel anything different. So yesterday, I sadly had to go to school, and then I came home. I had mud pie ice cream while watching Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Sadly it stopped on me, so I watched Castle, the episode called Food to Die For. Then Auntie Donna, Auntie Debbie, and Grandma came over, and we all went to Sushi 29 on Solano Avenue! We had a lot of sushi! We had Dragon maki, the California maki, Rock'n'roll maki, Wasachi maki, S & M maki, Salmon Reunion maki, and Rainbow maki. They were all good! Then for dessert we had strawberry and mango tempura mochi. All of it was good! Then afterwards we all ate the lemon meringue pie that my mom and I made from my grandpa's recipe. And then we got to watch my baby videos that my Grandpa and my aunties filmed. It was also an awesome day just like the Six Flags day! I hope you all have a great Easter day and break (if you have it)!

Ally's Column of Randomness: The Return of Ally!

Hey everyone! It's Ally! Wow, I haven't written a column in such a long time! I've missed it a lot!

A lot has happen over the past couple of months. My science fair project for school was in the District Science fair and I got third place! It was about seeing if kidney beans would grow better with Sprite or Prune Juice. So I'm moving on to the Bay Area one! It's kinda cool, but science isn't my kind of subject. I'm more into like art, band, and sometimes math and english.

Speaking of art, you should see Nathanael Fong's comic strip of Ninjas! (coming soon) It's really good and you'll enjoy it a lot! Nathanael has a whole ton of GREAT artwork! He likes to draw like superheroes, cars, and well ninjas now! His art work is super duper awesome! Maybe we can ask him about showing some of his art off on our artwork!

Hey, have you heard Josh's solo that he and his jazz band did at Yoshi's? You can hear Josh's solo and the saxs' solo at:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XCuCAXNJsA&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Hope you enjoy that!

Well I'm getting tired, so I will wrap this column up. Email me atjandakocompany@yahoo.com or comment if you have any questions, concerns, or comments! Thanks!

Ally's Column of Randomness-"2010 in Review"-12/1/10

Hi everyone! I can't believe that it's December 1! This whole year so far has gone by so fast! And so has last year too! Most of the years go by pretty fast! Well there's the saying: "Time flies when you're having fun!" That's pretty much true! Lots of cool things happened this year! Let's see...what were the fun things that I've done??

In January, well nothing really happened. Aha. In February, it's Valentine's Day but nothing exciting happens XD except that we went to Anaheim to visit my grandparents. It was also the time when the Olympics were going on! We also went to Disneyland and California Adventures, Nixon Library and we also went to go see Wheel of Fortune LIVE! Very awesome. But most importantly, Valerie and Jimmy got married! The wedding was pretty coolio.

In March, not a lot of things happened. I went to the Pier 39 with Aunty Donna and Josh. That was a lot of fun! In April, it was my BIRTHDAY!!!!!! (and Josh's) but of course mine is first! Yays. I went to Sushi House in Alameda, and Ici in Berkeley! Yummy places...I'm starting to get hungry! Aha. In May, I went to Cazadero with the Portola bands! That was pretty cool! It's a music program in the great outdoors. In June, it was the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL AND YES, THE BEGINNING OF SUMMER! I went to Napa just to hang out with friends! Oh, and I cannot forget my first cruise ever! We went to Alaska (you can read about the trip in my previous article) and it was rockin' awesome.

In July, Hip Wah began and we went on multiple places each day! Pretty awesome! Also, my friend, Maddie and I got to hang out a lot cuz we go to the same camp. We also went back to Anaheim. In August, we went to Seattle (you can read about it in my previous article) and it was totally awesome! But the worst thing happened: SCHOOL STARTED. And I was totally lonely at first, but hey, I made lots of new friends!

In September, my family and I went to the Walt Disney Museum in San Francisco. In October, my friends and I went potato digging and pumpkin digging. Also the "Make a Difference" Tour was cool! It was this thing where popular Christian artists come and they sing songs, and then Max Lucado talked about helping children in need, but the music was AWESOME! And that day was my half birthday! There was Halloween, but nothing exciting happened, except I went to my friend's house, and the SF Giants won that day!

In November, THE SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS BECAME THE WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!! I WAS SOOOOO HAPPY THAT DAY! We went back to Anaheim, and I had the best mochi ever! You should go to LA Japantown and go to a place called Mikawaya. Dude they had mochilato(mochi filled with gelato)! That was very good and totally awesome! For Thanksgiving we drove back to Anaheim and had a meal at my Paw Paw's house. Then I hung out with my Uncle Larry and Josh, by going to Downtown Disney! Fun!!

Yeah, that's what happened so far this year. There's probably other things that my journal left out (I'm getting all of these events from there!), but those are my highlights! Have a good weekend everyone! Please give me questions or ideas of what I should talk about next! Email me at ask414@yahoo.com. Okay, bye!

Ally's Column of Randomness-"Careers"-11/16/10

Hi everyone! I haven't written a column of randomness in a LONG time! Or it felt like a long time. XD I've been busy. Like for my four day weekend (I'm so lucky, I know, I know. :D) we drove to Anaheim to visit my grandparents for the whole weekend, then I come back to school with a lot of homework. Drats huh?

In English, we will now have a class about jobs and what to do to succeed. Well we didn't learn all that today, but we will have that on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This made me remember all the things that I wanted to be when I was little...well most of them, if I remember..XD

Well, the first one I didn't remember, but my mom had written it down in her journal (see mom, I said journal, not diary. Be happy, be healthy!). Anyways I wanted to be an acrobat for Cirque Du Soleil (which I don't really like now..sorry Cirque Du Soleil fans.) Then I wanted to be an artist, then a mail lady, then I don't know...., then a fashion designer, then a wedding fashion designer, and now I have no idea. Heck, that's a lot huh? Well yeah... maybe that English class thing about jobs will help...

For all you people that knew I wanted to be a wedding fashion designer...well the dream is kinda gone. Yeah...I couldn't think of any designs...but I like to do that for fun. Speaking of fashion, as some people would say (AHEMMM {joshua...} I'm kidding XD) that it's bold and big and colorful and stuff like that. All those commercials for makeup, perfume, colongue, urgh I mean really? I'm sorry for all those people who like that stuff, but that is not me. Nope. Skinny jeans, converse, tang tops with little sparkly things, all those things crossed out on my list. I'd just like jeans that are not skinny, t-shirts, oversized hoodies, and tennis shoes. My idea of comfy clothes.

OK, now when I'm in my "yo what's up?" mood, Josh always has to like be like "what's up dude?" EXCEPT he sounds nerdy :P XD No offense, brah (ahhhha I sound Hawaiian now! aloha oiii...) work your slang before I bust your...I'm kidding. Okay I think I'm done here. Email me at ask414@yahoo.com for more questions. Maybe your questions will be in my next post :} I will answer them truthfully...and best as I can. KK bye!
